Your most frequently asked questions
What is Famano Boric Acid and what does it do?
Famano Boric Acid is a vaginal suppository designed to restore and maintain your natural vaginal pH balance. It works by creating an environment where the harmful bacteria and yeast responsible for BV and recurring infections cannot survive. Think of it as a reset for your vaginal microbiome, not a treatment that masks symptoms, but one that addresses the root cause.
How do I use it?
Insert one capsule deep into the vagina at bedtime. Use for 7 consecutive nights for a treatment course, or as directed by your healthcare provider. Bedtime application is recommended so the capsule has time to dissolve fully without being expelled by normal activity. Wear a panty liner, some discharge during treatment is completely normal and is a sign the product is working.
How soon will I feel a difference?
Most women notice improvement within 3 to 5 days. For stubborn or recurring infections, the full 7 to 14 day course is recommended before assessing results. It is important to complete the full course even if symptoms resolve early.
Is it safe for regular use?
Yes, when used as directed. 600mg is the clinically recognised dose for vaginal boric acid use. For women who experience recurring infections, some healthcare providers recommend a maintenance dose of one capsule per week after completing the initial treatment course. Always follow your healthcare provider's guidance for long-term use.
Can I use this alongside other vaginal medications?
If you are currently using another vaginal medication or cream, space the application times apart and consult your healthcare provider before combining treatments. Boric acid should not be combined with topical antifungal creams on the same night.
Can I use it if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Boric acid is not recommended during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before use. This is a non-negotiable caution.
